SWTOR 6.0 All New Armor Sets and How to Get Them

|
Updated

The newest expansion to SWTOR – “Onslaught” is out now. This guide will show you all new armor sets available to players at level 75 (the new cap). There are so many and available from so many sources that it might be quite hard to get a grasp from a first look. Don’t forget to use the Table of Contents if you are looking for a certain set or segment!

UPDATED FOR PATCH 6.1.2

Most Armor Sets and Set Bonuses like the generic Amplified Champion Set in Star Wars The Old Republic can be purchased at a vendor on the Fleet. Some can be used by a variety of classes while others are dedicated to a specific Discipline. A few sets can only be obtained by playing the end-game content.

This guide will show you what all sets look like, what set bonuses they provide and what is the best way to obtain them.

GENERAL INFO ABOUT THE NEW GEAR AND SETS

Star Wars: The Old Republic’s newest digital expansion “Onslaught” and game update introduce a lot of new elements to the gearing process. Every player at level 75 (the new level cap in Update 6.0) will have access to a number of new armor sets with unique set bonuses as well as class-specific sets.

In general the idea behind the new gearing system, called “Spoils of War“, is that you can play whatever you want and get your character geared up. The truth is slightly different, though. Many of the new SWTOR armor sets have increased chance to drop while you play a certain activity in SWTOR. A small number of sets are only available from specific activities.

The main goal of this guide is to show you all of the new armor sets and their set bonuses and give you an idea of where to look for them to get all of the pieces as soon as possible.

All new SWTOR 6.0 armor sets can be purchased from a vendor on the Republic and Empire Fleets. There are a few exceptions. The currencies you need to trade in for the new gear are Credits and Tech Fragments.

SWTOR 6.0 Armor Sets Pricing and Currencies

Tech Fragments are used in both buying and selling of equipment. They can be earned by deconstructing items or simply playing the game and completing various missions. Tech Fragments are bound to Legacy, meaning it doesn’t matter which character you want to bring through the content.

An important change to the set bonuses compared to previous years is the fact that they are now attached to the item’s shells, not to the armorings.

Once your character reaches level 75, your old set bonuses (if you are still wearing them) will stop functioning. This isn’t just because BioWare’s wants to push you grind for the new ones. Its’ for balancing purposes.

SWTOR 6.0 Loot Discipline Options

When you reach level 75, a new option becomes available to you. You can now choose what type of loot you will be prioritizing. Right-clicking on your character’s icon, you can choose between several options, as shown in the image above.

The tougher content you play, the better the rewards. The Spoils of War system is designed to always push you forward. The items you are going to loot while playing are tailored to your current discipline and are either a side-grade or an upgrade in terms of iRating (the power level of the item).

You can learn all about SWTOR EndGame and Gearing at level 75. Check that guide as well!

SWTOR 6.0 ARMOR SETS NEW TOOLTIP UI EXPLAINED

When you mouse over an item that belongs to an armor set, you will see a redesigned tooltip that offers you plenty of information.

SWTOR 6.0 New Armor Sets Tooltip UI Explained

At the very top is the item’s name. The background color around it shows the tier of the item. The Rating value is a sum of all mods that you have placed. In the image above you see Rating 8 on the item on the left, because it’s an empty shell.

All armor is now bound to Legacy. This note sits right below the title along with the Durability rating (how long before the item breaks and needs to be repaired) and the item’s type (chest in this example).

In the middle of the tooltip you will see the familiar segment showing you what mods and stats you have placed into the empty slots of the shell.

Another new part follows right after that. The example shows the Chest piece of the Berserker set. Yes, there is a typo in the set name on the tooltip. BioWare will fix it very soon, I suppose :)

When you have a piece of that set, it will be marked with an active icon on the row below the set name. The number of set bonuses available and currently active will depend on the number of set items you have equipped to your character.

At the very bottom are the requirements for you to be able to wear that item and the price you need to pay for it. Note: the price may change with future game updates as BioWare tweaks and balances the economy of the game.

SWTOR ARMOR SETS AVAILABLE TO ALL CLASSES

These sets and set bonuses are available to all players at level 75, regardless of class and discipline. The result of that is the fact that they only offer general perks and boosts to your gameplay.

Every individual set has a different appearance, but it is shared between the two factions – Republic and Empire.

Note: the number in the brackets is how many items you need for the specific set bonus to become active. Some sets have only two set bonuses – at 2 and 4 items equipped. A select few only currently have three set bonus tiers – at 2, 4 and 6 items equipped.

WHAT CAN YOU GET FROM THE FLEET VENDORS

Because most of SWTOR’s gearing process is randomized now, the developers have inserted a few RNG-breakers as I call them. In the Supplies section on each Fleet you will find a set of vendors offering you the general armor sets and almost all of the class-specific ones.

The items available there are all for level 75 players. The vendors only sell empty shells. The mods you have to either obtain through gameplay as loot drops or craft them yourself (or have someone else craft them for you).

Spoils of War Fleet Vendor

In the same section of the Fleet you will also find a Spoils of War Gear Items vendor. At a highly reduces price you can trade in Tech Fragments for an unknown piece of gear. This item, once revealed, will still be based on your current discipline, but it may turn out to be a useless one. The vendor sells both armor parts and separate mods.

Renown Gear Fleet Vendor

The Renown Vendor is located right next to the previous one and is offering an interesting collection of “blue” armor parts in exchange for Credits.

SWTOR 6.0 Gear Fleet Vendors

There are, of course, four vendors for each class. They sell both the new sets (general and class-specific) as well as Tactical Items. There are a few sets (noted above) that are not available at the Fleet Vendors. The general rule is that if a set is available on the vendor, all of its pieces are present. Each of the SWTOR armor sets contains seven armor pieces.

Kai Zykken on the SWTOR 6.0 Fleet

This guy in the image above has random contents on every refresh. I will leave you a few days to check his story on your own and then I will fill in this segment of the guide with the full details (and the cinematic, of course). Kai can be found also in the Supplies section, he is in the Spoils of War section in the outer ring.

Wondering where and how to continue? Let me help with a few suggestions!
