Easy-to-follow guide/walkthrough to help you complete the Shady Character’s missions on Mek-Sha and unlock this secret merchant’s contents.
If you are a fan of Stronghold Decorations and enjoy a bit of exploration outside of your character’s main path and storyline, let me show you how to unlock a special secret vendor on Mek-Sha by completing a miniseries of missions! His name is Kah-Eem Yan-Ant Tan and he will not be willing to sell you anything until you do something for him first!
The requirements for this are as simple as they can be. There are no special requirements for this. You need to visit Mek-Sha. After you finish the main story of Onslaught, there are several dailies and one-time activities you can still do there. This guide, however, focuses only on the Shady Character Merchant and the missions related to him.
You may have actually finished these missions without realizing what they do. They are one-time quests and on their own don’t offer much in terms of rewards.
Where to find the Merchant and start the quest
Go to the Slugfall Cantina in the Slugfall Harbor (there’s a taxi to that area). From the taxi station take the stairs up and enter the Cantina. Entrance is on the north side of the platform.
Once inside, get up on the second floor using the metal staircase on the left side from the entrance. At the very end of the lane you will find a “Conspicuous Datapad” sitting on a table.
You can visit Kah-Eem Yan-Ant Tan at any time without doing the missions, but he will not sell you anything. He’s located on the ground floor of the Cantina, in a back room on the eastern side – behind the wall where the metal staircase is.
The only thing you will see is an empty vendor window if you click on him. Clicking a second time will display a red text “No items are available”. It’s not a bug. Do the missions chain described below and he will begin offering you his goodies.
NOTE! The Missions walkthroughs are described from an Empire character’s point of view, but it’s all identical on the Republic’s side. The areas you need to visit are the same. The way to reach them might lead you though a different taxi droid some times
Mission 1: Nothing Nefarious
The first mission from the Datapad is called “Nothing Nefarious”. To do the objective (Destroy 5 Exchange Goods), head to the Exchange territory.
Teleport (or walk) back to the Slugfall Cantina Taxi and take a ride to Brzo’s Wells (to the south-east). Then travel south to the Hideout Pass area. There will be a few enemy NPCs around the objects you need to click on. Once finished, return to the Slugfall Cantina for the next mission in this chain.
After you complete the first mission, the Shady Character will offer you two decorations from his inventory. Don’t stop now, there will be more after you complete the chain.
Mission 2: The Prototype
Clicking once again on the same Conspictuous Datapad will grant you the next mission, called “The Prototype”.
This one actually tasks you to go find the Goods Dealer – the Shady Character himself.
As soon as you click on him, the objective will change and send you to recover the prototype.
From the Slugfall harbor head south to The Bazaar and past it all the way south to the Contested Gangland. The Prototype is usually dropping from an NPC named Sever. She can spawn in different corners of the area. Defeat her, loot her corpse and return the prototype to the Shady Character.
Mission 3: Market Research
The final mission is no different than the previous two in terms of difficulty or duration – short and easy.
Return to the container where you delivered the prototype (ground floor) and pick up the Surveillance Devices. Next, go to The Bazaar to plant them.
What you can buy from the Shady Character
When you return one final time to the Shady Character in the Slugfall Cantina, he will reveal his true name and the full contents of his inventory.
You can check out the goods in the featured video near the top of this article. Here is the list of what he has to offer:
Each one of the items costs 75 000 Credits. As seen from the images and titles of the items, they all fall into the Furniture category.
